Q:
Why doesn't the video come up when I try to watch the episode?
A: You need to have the QuickTime
plug-in. You can download it from Apple at www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Q:
The video takes a long time to finish downloading - why?
A: Three Abreast is optimized for
a fast connection (DSL, ISDN, Cable Modem) - you can download it with a dial-up
modem but it will take a while.
Q:
Do I need to use Internet Explorer to watch Three Abreast?
A: Three Abreast has been optimized
for Internet Explorer. I've tested it with other browsers and achieved mixed
results.
Q:
I get some weird glitches when I look at the site - are these
bugs?
A: You may need to increase the
display size of your browser (or minimize toolbars/favorite bars). If you still
find something strange - please contact me at ravi@three-abreast.com
- thank you!
Q:
Do Ravi, Sarah and Brian really live together?
A: Yes (though Sarah is temporarily
away pursuing a graduate degree).
Q:
Why are there only seven episodes?
A: Each episode takes a great deal
of time to produce. This project was originally envisioned as seven episodes
- anything beyond that would be excessive (though some might say anything beyond
one episode is excessive...).
Q:
Is this inspired by Three's Company?
A: Three Abreast is inspired by
numerous sitcoms (mostly from the 70s/80s).
Q:
Why isn't this on TV?
A: Three Abreast was developed to
be a web experience - thus the Comedy Extender and the brevity of the episodes.
Who knows, maybe we'll develop "Three Abreast - The IMAX experience".
Q:
I thought I visited this site a few months ago, yet the site
says the launch is this March?
A: Three Abreast was up in 'beta-form'
to test for a number of months. Based on the feedback I received, I've re-edited
the video content and implemented several new features.
Q:
How come I can't watch the other episodes?
A: New episodes will come on-line
every two weeks (replacing the previous episode). I'm following a broadcast
model to some degree - encouraging people to 'tune in' every couple of weeks.
There are also issues of bandwidth and cost which prevent me from having all
the episodes up at once.
Q:
Is there any kind of official press release about this?
A: Why yes there is... you can read
it here.
Q:
Are you making money off of this?
A: No, but I'll probably end up
losing quite a bit. This is an 'ad free' site, though I would welcome sponsorship
to host the site - as that is a cost which might become prohibitive if traffic
gets too high.
Q:
Do you work on anything else?
A: I do design work to 'pay the
bills' (my design site is design.ravi.nu).
Info on my other art projects can be found at www.ravi.nu
